Well helooo friends,

Last Friday a DevilAir van turned up and clamped me motorhome outside Kazz' house in Liverpoor, despite my protestations. I did score a very spectacular yellow sticker, a little larger than A4, saying "UNTAXED VEHICLE" in bold letters, which now graces the lid of my laptop. Also there was a leaflet disclosing that clamped vehicles would be towed to the pound 'after 24 hours'.

So what to do?

I could'a removed the clamp and scarpered but that ain't what I am about. Instead Kazz & I simply moved back into the van and when the dude came to tow it yesterday I simply stuck my head out the van door to greet him.

"I'm afraid I have come to remove the van." says he. (The truth is that he wasn't half as afraid as the circumstances warranted.)
"Oh no you're not!" says I (probably entirely ungrammatically), "This is not a vehicle within the meaning of the RTA 1988, it is my home, I live here and you ain't taking it!"

So there was a little back and forth with me querying the definition of 'vehicle' in the said Act, or if the term is even defined in the Act (it isn't except that a vehicle is defined as a vehicle!!)

"So you won't leave the vehicle?" he finally asks.
"Nope." says I, "and anyway, as I just pointed out, it ain't a vehicle."

Then off he goes to phone the boss. Apparently his boss advises him to wait there while he calls the cops to extract us from the said conveyance. There is a pause for a time and eventually, his boss probably having called the cops, the cops having checked out the registration no. and decided the last thing they want is to commit two officers to an indoctrination on the merits of rebellion, Gandhi, etc., declined to appear and the boss tells said operator, "Just remove the clamp and tell them to fuck off quick".

Well that wouldn't be rebellion and peaceful non-compliance either, would it? So we stayed aboard, still not clear whether DevilAir's minions had completely conceded the field or whether we could still expect a visit from the filth. We had taken the precaution of picking up the TNS stream so that we could broadcast live if the fuzz did show. They didn't. And around 6pm I got bored and fired up a spliff.

I think that is a success, don't you?

Good stuff Prajna
