First Australian superior court judge to be jailed.

Hi there. This is my first attempt at posting so I hope I get it right, and don't break any rules.

I was amazed to read this article and thought, in the interests of increasing our knowledge, it would make for an interesting discussion topic.

In a nutshell, this ex Federal Court judge gets clocked by a speed camera exceeding the limit by 10km/h.
He gets 3 years for "the web of lies he concocted to avoid incurring demerit points on his driver's licence."
The presiding judge, Justice James said no individual had suffered injury, emotional harm, loss or damage, but there was "substantial damage to the system of justice".

I couldn't help wondering how an ex-judge, of all people, could mess up so badly.

You can find the article here:http://www.themercury.com.au/article/2009/03/21/62525_todays-news.html

Would love to hear your thoughts on this.

Best wishes.
