Leasehold Bills

Leasehold Bills

Postby WireInTheBlood » Mon Jan 04, 2010 9:06 pm

Hi All,

I have a mortgage on a leasehold flat in a small block. The block is primarily council tenants, but there are a few of us (4 out of 12) who are leaseholders. The lease is managed by an armslength Housing management company on behalf of the council.

I would like to know where I (and the other leaseholders) stand on the monthly maintenance fee we all have to pay (covers cleaners, cutting of communal grass areas etc) and the massive yearly fee we get charged for all upkeep and maintenance such as replacing lightbulbs/re-roofing etc - not cheap!

We have tried disputing charges before but it's "you-say vs we-say" and we get no-where.

What course of action could I take regarding the leaseholder fees?

Many thanks,

WITB. x

Try to get a copy of the contract between the HMC and the council.
Does the HMC have a charter?
Are they are for profit organisation?
Get a copy of their accounts.
Can you base a claim on unconscionable charges?
Can you base a claim on profiteering?
Alternatively, why not make use of mortgage killers, of which there are several proven techniques?
Alas, I can't direct you to a particular helper.

It's still fucked, isn't it?
