Gwent Police settle with Robert Whatley over car chase

Postby FASEN8R » Fri Feb 03, 2012 12:21 pm

Lawyers say police have made a substantial out-of-court settlement after stopping a Monmouthshire man's car and smashing its windows.

Businessman Robert Whatley, 71, of Usk, took legal action over a 17-minute pursuit for not wearing a seat belt.

BBC Wales understands the payment is in excess of £20,000. Police said they decided to settle on financial grounds.
Mr Whatley, who claimed for post-traumatic stress disorder, has already received more than £8,000 from the force after claiming for damage to his Range Rover.

The two Pcs, who have not been named, were removed from front-line duty and were subject to an internal disciplinary hearing held behind closed doors.

But they pair were allowed back on duty after being cleared of any wrong-doing.

I'm with Chug on this one! It really makes my blood boil!

If any 'civilian' did half of what these alleged Peace Officers did they would have been charged with:

1) Criminal damage
2) Behaviour likely to cause a breach of the peace
3) Causing Alarm ,Harassment & Distress under Section 5 of the Public Order Act
4) Terrorism as defined by the Terrorism Act 2000

And these cunts (Sorry! No other word will suffice!) didn't even get the sack they so richly deserve!

More proof (if it were ever needed) that we live in a two tier law system!

This story made my blood fucking curdle.

Those two pieces of shit were clearly out of control. Frenzied, violent criminals who should have both got substantial prison sentences. They didn't even lose their jobs!?!?!?!

I really am struggling for words on this one, so i'll leave it there.

They knew they were screwed from the onset so tried to cover this up and keep it quiet.........
