Council Tax and Tenany Agreement.

Council Tax and Tenany Agreement.

Postby tudu » Fri Sep 02, 2011 4:56 pm

Hi All

Hope someone can help. My wife and i have just received seperate Summons for non payment of council tax including costs for £980.00. The so called summons has been issued by Plymouth City Council - no court stamp, computer generated signature of clerk to justices. My question is, is that my name does not appear on the tenancy agreement so am i equally liable, or is just my wife whose name does appear on the tenancy agreement. I have never informed the council that i live at this address, so how did they know to send a summons in my name connected to this address. I want to support the wife in challenging the summons from the info on this site, but need to know if i am also liable.

Kind regards

Tudu.

Hi Thanks for response. Either legally or lawfully. If my name is not on tenancy agreement how can they summons me to court for council tax on an address i don't live at? I am ready to write them a letter from osbourne of the family glover but am unsure of my legal/lawful rights.

Kind regards.
