Hi All,

Any advice on this notice would be appreciated, although NOT construed as legal advice...

Thanks and respect go to those people here who have advanced my knowledge in this area. This is the first notice I've ever written so I may need some advice here.

cheers,

Greg

I like it greg, but it would be interesting too see if the council reply with any kind of substance other than another demand. :peace:

Yeah I guess they'll be seeing quite a lot of this type of stuff these days.

What I find very interesting is that they don't submit a valid bill, it just seems very much like they're trying it on, then using threats and intimidation if you don't comply.

What I find even more disturbing than this is that when you tell people this they don't get outraged, they actually seem surprised that you would think it should be any other way.

"but they're the government" they say. "yes" I say "THEY work for US remember?"

Good idea. I'm sure you know what kind of response you'll get.

But hey ... hit 'em from all sides. It's not just your Right (in Law) ... it's your DUTY.

An alternative, would be to hit them one question at a time.

Another question is "Please tell me how much, on average, it costs to proceed against a non-payer, including the average amount demanded, and the amount expended ... the latter to include the average cost of any prison sentence imposed. Treat this as a Freedom of Information request if necessary"

OR:

1. Do an FoI to the Prison Service asking the expenditure due to one inmate per week.

2. Modify the question above to request the average sentence imposed for non-payment.
Freedom's just another word for: "Nothing left to lose" (Janis Joplin)
"There is no path to peace, peace IS the path" (Mahatma Ghandi)
"There is no path to freedom, freedom IS the path" (Veronica Chapman)

Nice idea, thanks V.

My thinking on this is that we should be trying to make these people (and they are people with families and lives and feelings, hopes and dreams) realise that what they are doing is oppressing their fellow man with threats of court and jail if we don't want / need / can't afford their services.

I'd say a good 75% of people wouldn't pay this if they weren't intimidated into it - so I think the least they can do is provide us with a valid effing bill!
