Hello to all from The Pennine Eco-Village

Postby Freedom-Project » Thu Sep 20, 2012 7:45 pm

Just a quick hello for now and to introduce the Pennine Eco-Village.

We are a group of individuals that have broken away from 'corporate society' for many reasons, some of which you will hear about as we post other topics in due course.

But for now, a quick overview: In January of 2010, we found an abandoned 'stripped-out' large old farm-house, with acres of grasslands on top of the Pennine chain near Huddersfield, and after initial investigations, moved-in in March of the same year.

During our 'now' two and a half years here, we have brought the property back to a livable and workable standard, creating living spaces, meeting/film/discussion rooms and areas set aside for parties, the latter with a strict 'guest-list' only policy.

Other projects; either ongoing or scheduled are 'off-grid' developments (wind-turbines etc) vegetable allotments; and for a while, livestock (chickens) until foxes got wind of them :ouch:

We are looking to expand our horizons, arrange more in the line of meetings/discussions etc. create even more sleeping areas for part-time visitors and continue the work that has been initiated by the originating group; The Freedom Project.

Our ethos is; rather than going in to fight their system, because if you're fighting, you are contributing energy, whether it's pro or con, TO THAT SYSTEM!
The way to fight the system is not to be a part of it!

Well, that's enough for now and should stop us getting pruned again, but if anyone would like to know more about the Pennine Eco-Village, or have any questions, please do not hesitate to get back to us.
